“Persian” Shaft in Saqqara<\/h1>\n

Below is a cross-section diagram and layout of the subterranean system of chambers near the Unnas Pyramid in Saqqara. A vertical shaft sinks 20 m \/ 65.6 ft into the earth where there are three domed stone chambers. The two chambers to the left are empty. The somewhat chamber on the right contains is a monolith that is larger than the entrance to the room and shaft, made of another type of stone. It remains inexplicable just how the 4.3 m \/ 14.1 ft long, 2.5 m \/ 8.2 ft wide and 1.3 m \/ 4.1 ft high granite block was negotiated down the narrow shaft, which is just 1.5 x 1.4 m \/ 4.9 x 4.6 ft. That is why this monolith can also be considered to be the 8th world wonder.<\/p>\n
